What You Will Be Doing
In this dynamic role, you will serve as a key partner to the business, providing
legal counsel to management and board on all aspects of MBO’s business including corporate, business transactions, acquisitions, data privacy, and employment law.  As an integral member of the team you will partner with internal employees and external clients to support corporate initiatives, serve as a trusted advisor by providing counsel, risk mitigation strategies, and effective partnership to arrive at pragmatic solutions to complex situations.

In this role you will: 

  • Research, analyze, and interpret proposed and existing laws, statutes, and regulations including employment and data privacy laws
  • Serve as a key lawyer/legal advisor on all major business transactions
  • Advise management on recent changes in laws and regulations that affect the company
  • Evaluate the merits of court cases filed against or on behalf of the company, work with the appropriate executive(s) to define a strategic defense and approve settlements of disputes
  • Oversee and manage external legal counsel on litigation and complex legal issues.
  • Manage litigation matters being handled by outside counsel by coordinating and directing and driving case strategy; partner with outside counsel to draft/edit pleadings
  • Identify, evaluate, and address issues of legal risk
  • Review, revise, and complete discovery, performing legal research as necessary, interview, and prepare witnesses for depositions and trial, and negotiate settlements.
  • Administration of various litigation and corporate matters, discovery projects, document review, and legal research on a variety of issues, including compliance and regulatory matters.
  • Develop policies and procedures to mitigate corporate risk
  • Assist with corporate governance matters including maintain corporate documents
  • Assist with regulatory compliance related to various business initiatives
  • Review, draft, and negotiate business/commercial contracts.

What You Need to Stand Out
  • JD from an accredited law school and active license to practice law
  • 10+ years of experience preferred
  • 5+years staffing industry/contingent labor/employment law experience is strongly preferred
  • 5 years as a lawyer at a national law firm and/or in-house legal department is preferred
  • Knowledge of data privacy laws preferred
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of the organization and both internal and external groups
  • Ability to work independently with complete and accurate results
